Like really... I've already done 4500+ images this year, and I'm going to do it again. Yep, Europe.
London, Cambridge, Paris, Versailles, for sure. Maybe Vimy Ridge and Amiens too, haven't pinned down the last few days. Should be good times.
The only question is: how many cameras to take? Three or four?
1. Film SLR
2. dSLR
3. Pocket digi (well, my gf's going to be the one using *that* the most)
4? 1970's Konica
I'm kinda hosed that the Konica busted on me when I took my last shot in the Hermitage. I took a test film afterwards, at it puts about every fourth shot at risk for wierd-ass defocussing because the film's loose. If that hadn't happened there'd be no question about four...
To make things interesting, i've got a smattering of BW films (kodak, ilford) to play with that I picked up in Detroit last month. Given that I've got a couple potential portrait/model picture sessions in the offing when I get back, I don't know that I want to use them yet.... ah hell, I can always buy more!!
Based on my Russia/Latvia trip from earlier in the year, this will probably add 1200-1500 more shots to the 'have to scan/process' pile. (yes, that many.... 22 films, mostly 36's, added up to about 600 frames, and three nearly full 2gig chips contribued another 700ish) But what would life be without something that needs doing? *shrug* At this rate, it isn't outside the realm of possibility of hitting 7500 shots for the year...
Also, if anyone has suggestions RE any of the above, or happens to be in those areas and wants to hook up in the next few weeks, drop me a line here.
I will ever so gladly take suggestions for stuff that's out of the way, unusual, or overlooked by the touristy masses... aka, the stuff I really like to shoot!
----
Oh yeah - don't forget the pimpage - vote for me & you could win a camera! ----> www.realnorthcalendar.com/phot… running out, there's a couple weeks left.
And of course, I just gots ta pimp my sister! Lunisi (for those robot chicken fans out there, i don't think she takes credit cards... stupid monkey! )
Until next time, keep fit and have fun!

Just short of 80K deviation views. Cool.
First, the requisite "All the :+fav: are appreciated and thanks for stopping by!" and usual "I haven't been spending much time on here of late" etc etc. Fact is, I spend so much time in front of a computer for work, I barely log in to anything when I get home. Gotta have a life away from the monitor and spend some time out in the big blue room with the bright yelllow light, right? :sun:
I just took a look at my 'stats' and thought it would be worth noting a few numbers I found interesting. I joined the site around this time in 2006, so over the course of 9 years I have: 15,421 pageviews. 460 deviations (counting scraps - does anyone ever
50K deviation views... About time I updated this!
Well, a year and a half since I wrote a new journal entry. So much has changed, yet much is still the same. Where to begin?
I took a look at my stats and saw that my "deviations were viewed 50,162 times". A great big "Thank you" to everyone who's visited and is visiting!! I don't have much free time anymore to keep up with messages (I know I know I'm not the greatest at keeping up in the first place...!) but please know that I want to reciprocate to every visitor I get and greatly appreciate the comments you leave and the :+fav: you make. Consider this journal a standing "Thanks for the :+fav:" comment on your page if I don't g
Jack Layton / Funeral / My Gallery
For those not up on "Canada" news, there's a major event in Toronto today. Possibly one of the biggest in modern Canadian history - the funeral of Jack Layton, the leader of the Opposition and head of the NDP party who unexpectedly lost his battle with cancer and died earlier this week.
I'm shooting around the area today, so don't have time to write much now.
Full details on the event are best found at http://cbc.ca/news
Anyway, here's the first portion of my shots from this morning:

I'll clean some up and post them on here later.

Kodachrome - End of the line
In 2009, Kodak announced that it was ending its production of Kodachrome slide film and removing it from the market. (see previous article at http://news.deviantart.com/article/83929 )
Almost immediately, what stock there was of it available vanished as film photographers "snapped up" what was left. Known for rich colour depth and good longevity of the stock, it was a staple of both movie and still captures for years, and immortalized in the song Kodachrome by Paul Simon.
Unlike modern films, Kodachrome's colours were added during the developing process by using three distinct steps and chemical additions. The complexity of the process a
